Welcome back Matt!
Matt has returned to the Nutritional Sciences Department after completing his MS in nutrition. He is a research specialist and is a key member in our new project named “Wearable Antioxidant Sensor Study.”
Welcome Dr. Seoeun Ahn!
Dr. Ahn is a postdoctoral researcher and visiting scholar at the University of Connecticut, specializing in nutritional epidemiology. Her recent work is focused on the development and validation of biomarkers, such as skin carotenoids, to accurately assess fruit and vegetable intake in diverse populations. She will be a key researcher in our new project “Wearable Antioxidant Sensor Study.”
Welcome Matt!
Matt is beginning his MS studies in fall 2021, focusing on nutritional epidemiology. He enjoys researching and sharing the implications of dietary patterns in the prevention and management of various chronic diseases. In the few years following the completion of a Bachelor’s in Nutritional Science, he discovered a strong passion for epidemiology. Through graduate study he intends to further his knowledge, accumulate work experience, and learn how to best communicate the value and utility of nutritional epidemiology in improving human health to others.
Welcome Briana!
Briana is a rising senior, and this summer has done extensive laboratory work through UConn’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF) and McNair Scholars Program, where she is assessing coffee constituents such as polyphenols and estrogenic chemicals through biochemical assays. She is also assisting with a clinical trial that is evaluating the effect of blackcurrant supplementation on bone health in older women.
Congratulations Dalia!
Dalia graduated with a MS degree from the nutritional sciences department in 2021, having wrote her thesis titled, Assessment of Nutritional and Health Status and Feasibility of Personalized Nutrition Education Intervention in Mobile Food Pantry Users. She will be beginning her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston in summer 2021.
